Personal Story

My path here was anything but conventional. Growing up, I thought I might have a career as a professional athlete, not a lawyer. As a senior in high school, I was the 3rd ranked golfer in the U.S. and earned a full scholarship to the University of Arizona, where I graduated as a four-time academic All-American. But after a brief stint on the professional tour, I found myself wanting work with deeper, more lasting impact, and enrolled in law school.

The discipline, work ethic, and composure required to compete at the highest level of golf translated seamlessly into the practice of law. The ability to stay focused under pressure, manage setbacks, and think strategically — those instincts shape every deal I structure and every strategy I build for my clients.

I graduated from the University of Arizona, James E. Rogers College of Law in 2010 and returned to Las Vegas. After clerking in Business Court and practicing civil litigation, I joined Greenberg Traurig in 2014 — one of the largest and most highly regarded law firms in the world. For over a decade, I represented publicly traded companies, middle-market businesses, and high-growth ventures in complex litigation across various industries including construction, finance, hospitality, education, employment and tech.

While I enjoyed trial work, over time, I found myself wanting to help clients create something lasting and build more collaborative relationships. This led me to transactional work with a focus in real estate — and where I found my true passion because it puts me in the position I value most: serving as a trusted advisor. When a client is making a significant business or real estate decision, they deserve a lawyer who is fully invested in their outcome.

After more than a decade in BigLaw, I made a deliberate choice to build something different — a practice where clients get the same high caliber legal work, with greater flexibility, and alignment of interests. The varied combination of experiences I bring, a decade of complex litigation across industries, and a deep transactional practice built inside one of the world's leading firms, is something few lawyers can offer.

Built differently.
On purpose.

BigLaw taught me what excellent legal work looks like, but it also showed me that model doesn't work for all clients in all stages of business.

I founded Welch Kirmse to do things differently. I work with a selective roster of clients so I can actually know their businesses, understand their goals, and advise before decisions lock them in, not after. Fewer clients. Deeper relationships. Better outcomes.

This is sophisticated legal expertise built around genuine partnership — and a practice designed to sustain both.
